3-Day Mikumi National Park Safari

Our journey begins with an early morning departure from Dar es Salaam as we set off on the scenic drive to Mikumi National Park. This park, though often overlooked, offers a surprising wealth of wildlife and beautiful landscapes. By midday, we’ll arrive at Mikumi, check into our lodge, and take a moment to unwind before our afternoon game drive. Mikumi’s open plains and seasonal rivers make it an ideal habitat for elephants, buffalo, and an array of antelope species. As the sun sets, casting a golden light over the landscape, we may catch sight of lions or even a rare leopard on the prowl. After a full day of discovery, we’ll return to our lodge, where dinner and a peaceful night await.

Today, we rise early for a sunrise game drive, the best time to see wildlife stirring in the cool of the morning. The wide-open plains of Mikumi reveal giraffes, zebra herds, and elephants moving in family groups. As we make our way through the park, we’ll also pass marshy areas where hippos bask and crocodiles lie in wait. After a hearty breakfast back at camp, you’ll have the choice to join a guided walking safari—an unforgettable chance to learn about the smaller details of the bush, from medicinal plants to animal tracks. After lunch, we’ll venture out again, ending the day with an evening game drive and a cozy return to our lodge.

On our final morning, we’ll have one last game drive through Mikumi, capturing any last glimpses of the park’s wildlife before setting off for Dar es Salaam. Driving back through Tanzania’s scenic countryside, we’ll arrive by mid-afternoon, bringing a satisfying close to this immersive safari adventure.
