After breakfast, you’ll transfer to Arusha Airport for your flight to Kogatende in the northern Serengeti (flights from Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam also possible).
As you soar over Tanzania’s diverse landscapes, anticipate the excitement of one of nature’s most dramatic spectacles: the Mara River crossing. Upon arrival, our representative will welcome you, ready to embark on game drives that immerse you in the heart of the Great Migration.
t this time of year, the riverbanks are bustling with activity. Thousands of wildebeest and zebras gather at the water’s edge, driven by instinct to cross despite the dangers lurking below. The tension is palpable as crocodiles, perfectly camouflaged in the murky waters, await their opportunity. This natural theater of life and death is unparalleled, offering a rare chance to witness the raw power of the wild.
Beyond the river, the northern Serengeti is rich with wildlife. Predators like lions, leopards, and hyenas follow the herds, taking advantage of the abundance of prey. The area is also home to an array of birdlife, with raptors soaring overhead and smaller species flitting through the acacia woodlands. The landscape itself is stunning, with rolling hills, rocky outcrops, and sweeping plains providing a picturesque setting for your adventure.
In the afternoon, you have the option to extend your game drive until sunset. This is a magical time in the Serengeti, as the golden light bathes the landscape, and the animals become more active as the temperature cools. It’s the perfect end to a day filled with unforgettable wildlife encounters, leaving you with a deep appreciation for the Serengeti’s wild beauty.

Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather together on the banks of the river, gazing wistfully across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side, but no animal will make a move.
All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the 'literal' plunge, and then, all follow!
The animals that successfully avoid the awaiting crocodile jaws and make it over the river are rewarded with the lush green grazing grass of the Maasai Mara.
