Begin your safari with a scenic drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most underrated gems. Spend a full day exploring Ndutu’s open plains, woodlands, and seasonal soda lakes. Game viewing is at its peak during this time of year — with easy-to-spot herds and predator activity often unfolding in front of your vehicle. The short grass plains offer perfect visibility, making this a favorite location for photographers.

This is also one of the few areas where off-road driving is permitted, allowing you to follow the action more freely. Expect to see lion cubs, active cheetah coalitions, large hyena clans, and thousands of wildebeest calves finding their legs — and avoiding the jaws of predators.
