Company History - Who founded it, and why?

Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures was founded in 2013 by Evarist Ndererubusa, a native of Moshi Kilimanjaro, Tanzania. I was Born Just 30minutes Below Mt.Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Evarist's journey in the tourism industry began as a park Ranger, Mountain Sherpa/porter and later as a mountain and safari guide. I am Licensed, WFR & First Aid Trained. I am working with His Colleagues as fellow Guides, and run the Company as family, Brothers and one Team with making sure everyone in the Team has the Best working Conditions, Medical care and family stability.  I have an extensive experience includes trekking the highlands and forests of Tanzania, exploring the Serengeti plains, and summiting Mount Kilimanjaro more than 230 times. Mypassion for adventure and deep knowledge of Tanzania's landscapes inspired me to establish a company that offers authentic and safe travel experiences.

The company's mission is to provide unique, environmentally friendly tours and safari packages that cater to a wide range of travelers, from solo budget adventurers to luxury seekers. Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures emphasizes responsible tourism and sustainability, aiming to benefit local communities and preserve the environments they explore.

A glimpse into an exciting day with us

"A Lion's Gaze: An Unforgettable Safari Encounter"#

During a safari with Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures, a guide named Jamal led a group through the Serengeti. As they ventured deeper into the savannah, they encountered a family of lions resting under a tree. With elephants grazing in the background and the lions just 2-3 meters away, the scene was nothing short of breathtaking. Jamal's expertise allowed the group to observe this majestic sight safely and intimately, creating a moment that left an indelible mark on all present. Mr. Jamal's deep knowledge of the terrain and animal behavior ensured that the group not only witnessed this extraordinary event but also gained insights into the lives of these magnificent creatures. His ability to spot camouflaged animals and position the vehicle for optimal viewing exemplifies the exceptional skill and dedication of Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures' guides.

Another Story

"The Day We Witnessed a Cheetah Hunt"#

During a safari in the Serengeti, our guide, Shafiq, spotted a cheetah perched on a termite mound, scanning the horizon.Recognizing the signs of an imminent hunt, he positioned our vehicle at a safe distance with a clear line of sight.Moments later, the cheetah sprang into action, chasing down a gazelle with breathtaking speed and precision. Witnessing this raw display of nature's prowess left us all in awe. Shafiq's deep understanding of animal behavior and his ability to anticipate such events turned an ordinary game drive into an extraordinary experience.

This unforgettable encounter is a testament to the expertise and passion of Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures' guides, who consistently go above and beyond to provide guests with unparalleled wildlife experiences.

Our favourite spots in Tanzania

Absolutely! Even after years of guiding, there are certain spots in Tanzania's national parks that continue to captivate and inspire. Here are some of my personal favorites in each park:

Serengeti National Park 1. Naabi Hill Kopjes These granite outcrops rise dramatically from the plains, offering panoramic views of the Serengeti. They are not only scenic but also serve as vantage points for predators like lions and leopards. Observing wildlife interactions here, especially during the Great Migration, is always exhilarating. 2. Seronera Valley Located in the heart of the Serengeti, the Seronera Valley is renowned for its abundant wildlife year-round. The Seronera River attracts a variety of animals, making it an ideal spot for game viewing. The diversity and density of wildlife here never cease to amaze.

Ngorongoro Conservation Area 1. Ngorongoro Crater Floor Descending into the world's largest unbroken caldera is like entering a wildlife Eden. The crater floor hosts a dense population of animals, including the Big Five. Each visit offers unique sightings and behaviors, making it a perennial favorite.

2. Olduvai Gorge Often referred to as the "Cradle of Mankind," this archaeological site provides a profound connection to human history.Sharing the story of early human ancestors with visitors here adds depth to the safari experience.

Tarangire National Park 1. Tarangire River

The lifeblood of the park, the Tarangire River attracts large herds of elephants, especially during the dry season.Watching these majestic creatures interact and play in the water is always a highlight.

2. Baobab Tree Landscapes The park's iconic baobab trees create a surreal and picturesque landscape. These ancient giants not only provide shelter for wildlife but also offer stunning backdrops for photography and storytelling.

Each of these spots offers unique experiences that continue to inspire awe and wonder, reminding me why I fell in love with guiding in the first place.

Real stories about how we support our clients

Absolutely. One of the most compelling stories that exemplifies Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures' dedication to their clients involves a family undertaking the challenging 8-day Northern Circuit route on Mount Kilimanjaro.

During the ascent, one of the family's sons fell ill, becoming very weak and struggling to continue. Recognizing the severity of the situation, Our lead guide, Mwinyi, took immediate action. He called upon team members to assist with carrying the day packs and, in a remarkable display of commitment, personally carried the ailing boy on his back to ensure he reached the next camp safely. Mwinyi reassured the family, stating that while on the mountain, they were his family, and he would care for their children as his own. The team provided constant encouragement, prepared special meals to aid in the boy's recovery, and ensured the family's well-being throughout the journey. Thanks to their unwavering support, the entire family overcame the challenges and successfully reached the summit.

Another Story

"When the Unexpected Happens: A Safari Turned Rescue Mission" During our multi-day safari across Tanzania’s Northern Circuit, a family from Europe found themselves in a difficult situation when their youngest child developed a sudden high fever and severe dehydration after a long day in the Serengeti. The remote location and lack of immediate medical facilities made the situation even more daunting. Recognizing the urgency, I Evarist as their guide, quickly assessed the situation and took decisive action. I contacted base team Via Radio over my Jeep to coordinate an emergency response. While waiting for assistance, I utilized My wilderness first responder training to stabilize the child, ensuring they remained hydrated and comfortable.

The operations team arranged for a swift transfer to a medical facility in Arusha city, coordinating with local authorities to expedite the process. Throughout the ordeal, I stayed by the family's side, offering reassurance and support. To be calm demeanor and professionalism usually provides immense comfort during a stressful time. The child received timely medical care and made a full recovery. The family was deeply grateful, noting that the team's dedication turned a potentially tragic situation into a testament of exceptional care and commitment.

These 2 stories highlights the exceptional care and dedication that we as Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures offers, turning potential hardships into triumphant experiences.

A glimpse into an exciting day of safari with us

The Day Our Guide Found the Leopard Nobody Else Could See On safari, dozens of jeeps gave up searching for big cats. But our guide at Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures stopped, tilted his head, and said, “Listen.”

He’d heard the alarm call of a tiny bird. Following that clue, he drove slowly toward a lone acacia tree. At first, everyone saw nothing but shadows… then suddenly—there it was. A leopard, perfectly camouflaged on the branch, watching the plains below.

While others drove on, our guests had a private, heart-pounding moment with Africa’s most elusive cat—all thanks to a guide who reads the wild like a book.

Our favourite safari lodges and tented camps

Northern Circuit Favorites#

1. Klein’s Camp (Serengeti)

  • Nestled in a private 24,800-acre wildlife concession in the northern Serengeti, Klein’s Camp offers exclusive wildlife encounters away from the crowds. Positioned on Kuka Hills, it boasts panoramic views over migration routes and year-round game viewing, plus bush walks and night drives for a more immersive safari

2. Ngorongoro Crater Lodge (Ngorongoro Conservation Area)

  • Dramatically perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, this lodge delivers unmatched architectural flair—its design inspired by Maasai “manyatta” homesteads—alongside stunning views into one of the most biodiverse calderas on earth.

3. Lake Manyara Tree Lodge (Lake Manyara NP)

  • Set deep within a mahogany forest and designed with minimal environmental impact, this lodge offers immersive stays in the only permanent accommodation inside the park. Guests enjoy close encounters with elephants, buffalo, and a range of diverse habitats.

4. Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge

  • Elevated above the Rift Valley, this lodge features Maasai-inspired, circular thatched rooms, spectacular valley views, a renowned vanishing horizon pool, and thoughtful guest amenities like spa treatments, babysitting, and excellent service.

5. Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp (Central Serengeti)

  • A smaller, more intimate tented camp tucked among rocky glades. It’s perfectly situated for migration viewing in the Serengeti’s central corridor during peak seasons. Tented charm and natural setting give an authentic wilderness feel.

What are your favourite Kilimanjaro routes, campsites, or acclimatization strategies — and why?

Our Favourite Kilimanjaro Routes, Campsites & Acclimatization Strategies  Routes We Recommend

Lemosho Route (8 days) – Our #1 favorite for success rates Why: It starts on the quiet western slopes with fewer crowds, offers varied scenery (rainforest → Shira Plateau → alpine desert → glaciers), and has one of the best acclimatization profiles. Client Benefit: Higher summit success rate (~90% with 8 days), plus more time to enjoy the climb instead of rushing. Machame Route (7 days) – The “Whiskey Route” – most scenic Why: Dramatic landscapes (Shira Plateau, Barranco Wall, Lava Tower) with plenty of “climb high, sleep low” opportunities for natural acclimatization. Client Benefit: Ideal balance between challenge, scenery, and affordability for adventurous trekkers. Northern Circuit (9 days) – The ultimate for acclimatization & solitude Why: Longest route, circling nearly the entire mountain. Fewer crowds, excellent acclimatization, stunning views from multiple angles. Client Benefit: Highest summit success rate (>95%) and best for those who want a less crowded, immersive trek.

** Campsites We Love** Shira 2 Camp (Lemosho/Machame) – Wide-open skies for sunsets and stargazing across the plateau. Barranco Camp (Machame/Lemosho) – Iconic views of the Barranco Wall; guests wake up to one of the most photographed sights on Kilimanjaro. Karanga Camp – Strategic “climb high, sleep low” stop that breaks up the long summit push, giving clients the best shot at acclimatizing. School Hut (Northern Circuit) – Quieter summit base than Kibo Hut, offering clients a peaceful night before their final ascent.

Acclimatization Strategies That Work “Pole, Pole” (Go Slowly) – Guides keep the pace deliberately slow from Day 1 so the body adapts without overexertion. Climb High, Sleep Low – Routes like Machame and Lemosho naturally encourage this (e.g., hike up to Lava Tower at 4,600m, sleep lower at Barranco 3,900m). Extra Acclimatization Day – On Lemosho or Machame, we add an extra night at Karanga or Shira for clients who want maximum summit success. Hydration & Nutrition – Guides encourage 3–4 liters of water daily + hot meals rich in carbs for energy at altitude. Oxygen Monitoring – Daily pulse oximeter checks ensure guests are safe and adapting well.

Why This Matters for Our Clients We don’t just take climbers up Kilimanjaro—we set them up for success. By carefully choosing the right route, campsite strategy, and acclimatization plan, our guests have the best possible summit experience: safe, rewarding, and unforgettable.

What moments or parts of the mountain do you still find magical — even after climbing hundreds of times?

The Magic of Kilimanjaro Never Fades Even after dozens of climbs, there are moments on the mountain that still give us goosebumps:

Barranco Wall Sunrise – Watching trekkers conquer the Wall at dawn is unforgettable. The golden light spills over the cliffs, and you see nervous faces turn into pure joy as they realize: “I can do this.”

First Glimpse of the Glaciers – No matter how many times we’ve seen them, that moment when climbers round a corner and the shimmering ice fields appear is always magical. The mountain feels timeless, and our guests’ wide-eyed wonder reminds us why we climb. Because on Kilimanjaro, it’s not just about reaching Uhuru Peak—it’s about the moments along the way that stay with you forever

Once in a lifetime trip up Kilimanjaro with Kilimanjaro Heroes

I hiked Kilimanjaro with my family in December-January 2024/2025. We had an incredible time with Kilimanjaro Heroes. Our guide, Mwiny, was very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. Our assistant guide, Gloria, made sure we had a safe and memorable time. Our chef, Obedi, is very talented and always made warm, delicious and filling meals. The whole crew cared for us like family and were such a joy to hike and camp with. We could not have been luckier with our team, nor made a better choice than Climbing with Kilimanjaro Heroes. The gear we rented from them was top-of-the-line and made the trip so comfortable. We all cannot wait to get back on the mountain with the Heroes Kilimanjaro team! Thank you to them for all their hard work and dedication to making every trip a once in a lifetime experience!

Fantastic experience. Excellent organization, beautiful locations and pleasant contact with Evarist

Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures has completely fulfilled what they promised. We had booked the flight through them and when our flight was cancelled, we were rebooked that same day so we could follow the program as planned. The app contact with Evarist was very nice. It was a well built trip with lodges in beautiful locations, friendly staff and great food. But what we were especially happy with was our guide Savio. We learned a lot about the land, the animals and the people. He was caring and made it all to our liking. We've got a new friend. A one word: Great! It was an unforgettable experience. We booked a four-day safari tour. Tarangire Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. From the very beginning we were welcomed by Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures Guides! The lodges were stunning and enjoyed every moment. We owe the unforgettable experience to Shafiq who accompanied us for more than a thousand kilometers with his knowledge, his sympathy and his big heart! We couldn't ask for a better guide! It was a fantastic adventure and everything went smoothly. Asante sana Shafiq! Asante sana to the whole Kilimanjaro Heroes team and all who accompanied us on this trip.

Dive into a completely different world

Immersion in another world...just madness. It will certainly take us a while to realize that we have really experienced all this. Seeing so many animals up close in the wild was simply overwhelming. We can recommend Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures with a clear conscience. Very good and always friendly and prompt contact in advance via WhatsApp, the trip could be designed very individually, also general questions regarding travel preparation were gladly answered. Everything was well organized on site. Our guide Jamal was great. We were very happy that we had a contact person on site in advance, it is something else to talk to someone who also lives on site and could accordingly answer questions about the circumstances first hand. We'll be back!

Great & Perfect experience!

I can give my absolute recommendation for this travel provider to anyone who is considering planning a trip with Kili Heroes Adventures...my son and I booked a safari in Tanzania and subsequent beach holiday in Zanzibar through Kilimanjaro Heroes.....as inexperienced African holidaymakers there were a lot of things to consider and clarify in advance....whether visa, vaccinations, questions about clothes etc. etc. ......all my questions I could get rid of at the dear Evarist who answered all my question in detail and so sweetly...A big praise and thank you for your patience and kindness again at this point ♥....all transfers, domestic flight, accommodations were perfect !!...it has not been a single thing that did not work out ! My personal tip to everyone: Make a trip to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater ....don't miss these wonderful impressions....the animal diversity is just unique and breathtaking ...we also spent two nights in big tents in the middle of the Serengeti with breathtaking nature....indescribable...the Olea Farm Lodge between coffee and banana plantations is also one of my absolute highlights ...and I could write for hours about the wonderful people there who cannot be beaten in terms of warmth...we would have loved to stay there...At this point we would like to thank our wonderful guide who made our safari something unique!!!! ...stands cheerfully and has a wonderful knowledge which he likes to share with you...no question remains unanswered...every chance to discover all the animals he has taken ...thanks to him we were even very lucky to be able to see the Big Five :).. he is a heart person through and through...thanksonce again to you on this path!!...We are glad that you were our guide ♥ and recommend you very much to everyone :) And also Zanzibar....without words!!! The Legendary Zanzibar Beach Resort has absolutely exceeded our expectations...All the lovely staff who work there and the lovely manager Sinisa were wonderfully attentive have fulfilled every wish...You have all given us an unforgettable, fantastic time with your kindness and warmth... A memorable Safari organized by Kili Heroes

Super Safar Everything was very well organized. Pick-up from the exit of the plane. The choice of lodge hotels was perfect. Meet George our super friendly guide the day after our arrival. He knew how to make our 7 days a dream safari. Contract fulfilled for the Big Five. Always listening to us, he knew how to anticipate our expectations , adapted to our rhythm. Distinguished driver, always on the lookout for any information to allow us to make magical encounters: leopards, cheetahs, elephants , zebras, leopard turtles to red ants and of course the rhino mom and her little one ... thousands of photos in memory of these unique moments. Thank you again for your professionalism we could count on you throughout our safari. Thanks to Kilimanjaro Heroes for their spacious and comfortable vehicle... End of stay by 3 days at the Bamboo Hotel in Zanzibar. Beautiful hotel to rest and thank them for allowing us to enjoy the pool until the last moment. Transfers were operated by the heroes which was perfect until the end.

Spectacular, private northern Tanzania safari, tailored to us!

My husband and I went on a 9 day safari with Heroes Safari for our honeymoon and we LOVED it. Evarist and staff was responsive and great to communicate with from the very beginning. They answered all our questions and tailored the trip to what we were looking for, despite us changing direction ourselves a couple of times. We wanted an experienced, locally-based company (northern Tanzania) and one that is transparent about how things operate, all of which they are. Their prices were fair and in-line with the services we received, which was a spectacular 9 day safari in a private vehicle to 4 different national parks, focused on what we wanted to do and see. Our guide, Elly Mbise was phenomenal and we could tell how experienced and professional he was from the start, and quickly learned how patient he was as well, as we spent plenty of stops looking up random birds and other creatures that other tourists likely don't care as much about. We saw a truly stunning number of unique animal species throughout our trip (over 100) and many individuals of quite of few of those species. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 (most of them many times), and though a lot of that is just luck and good timing, we were grateful for Mbise's experience and communication which allowed us to track down where some animals happened to be at that time. We were also excited to see whatever we could, even if it was the "less glamorous" safari creatures, which was a great part of our experience and one that Mbise helped back up as well by pointing out anything and everything as he picked up on what we were intrigued by. Our safari vehicle was wonderful, kept miraculously clean by Mbise despite all our dusty shoes and such, and very comfortable and spacious for the two of us. It was perfect for us to move around in and get all the photos we wanted, which was also super important to us. By the time we were done with our safari, we had seen so many other companies' vehicles broken down, yet I still had no doubts whatsoever of our Kilimanjaro Heroes vehicle or Mbises driving. We felt safe, taken care of, and confident in all aspects of our safari, really without a doubt. We went with what Kilimanjaro Heroes calls "mid-range" accommodations (which they arranged for us) and all of them exceeded our expectations, especially being out in the bush. Staff at all the locations were wonderful and the food was excellent, including the hot lunches we got out in the parks. They handled everything for us, including the timing and permits to get into the parks. We had great experiences all the places we went, and while we did find the migration after they had completed most of their river crossings, it was great because there weren't many big crowds and we didn't have to fight groups or lines to see the things we wanted to. In fact, we had front row seats for the most part, which we felt was a great perk for going at the time we did, still had beautiful weather, and it allowed us to see SO many things. Overall, we had such a spectacular time on this trip, as our first time to Tanzania and to the continent, and it was largely due to such a great tour company, tour guide, and all the amazing things they helped us see and experience, and we would highly recommend both Mbise & Kilimanjaro Heroes Adventures to anyone looking for a Tanzania safari!

Unforgettable safari

Unforgettable safari with a very attentive driver and a perfect organization at the level of visiting the 3 parks Tarangire , Serengeti and Ngorongoro and very comfortable accommodations. Meals were plentiful in the evening as well as at lunch as well as breakfasts. We spent 6 days in the 3 parks. We advise two nights in Arusha if your flight arrives late at night in Kilimanjaro before visiting the parks. You can visit the waterfalls of Mount Meru in Arusha. We also recommend ballooning in Serengeti. Transfers with local flights were very well organized to reach Zanzibar where we spent the end of our stay at the Hotel Mr Kahawa very well placed and very comfortable.
