Fly from Zanzibar to Central Serengeti (approx. 2 hours, flight time varies). Upon arrival, begin exploring the lush green landscapes brought to life by the rains—an excellent time for spotting migratory herds, newborn animals, and heightened predator activity. Enjoy a picnic lunch or return to your lodge for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive focusing on riverine areas and kopjes where big cats rest. Overnight in Central Serengeti.

Spend a full day immersed in the rainy-season magic of the Serengeti. This is the calving season in the southern areas, but Central Serengeti still hosts impressive numbers of wildebeest, zebras, and their predators. Enjoy early morning and late afternoon game drives, as the rains can shift animal movements. With the plains bursting into bloom, you may also see ostriches displaying or hyenas roaming with pups. Lunch is either in camp or out in the wild.

After breakfast and a final game drive through Central Serengeti, begin the overland journey to Karatu (~5–6 hours), passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Wildlife sightings continue along the way—expect to see giraffes, elephants, or even Maasai herders tending cattle on the highland slopes. Arrive in Karatu by late afternoon for a restful evening at your lodge.

Descend early into the Ngorongoro Crater for a spectacular wildlife experience in one of Africa’s most biodiverse habitats. With a high concentration of lions, hippos, buffaloes, and even black rhinos, this UNESCO site offers rich sightings year-round. Have a bush breakfast on the crater floor or return to the lodge for a hot meal. By late afternoon, return to Karatu for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, head to Tarangire (~2.5 hrs) for a half-day game drive. Despite the rains, Tarangire remains active with elephants, baobab trees, and seasonal birdlife. Enjoy a packed lunch en route or at a scenic viewpoint. By early afternoon, drive back to Arusha Airport (~2 hrs) to catch your flight to Zanzibar, arriving by evening.
