Company History - Who founded it, and why?
Budget Safaris Tanzania is a locally owned and operated safari company committed to delivering affordable yet unforgettable safari experiences across Tanzania’s breathtaking landscapes. Specializing in cost-effective adventures, the company offers travelers a unique opportunity to explore the country’s world-renowned national parks, rich wildlife, and vibrant culture—without exceeding their budget.
Guides and Itineraries: Each safari is led by knowledgeable local guides with extensive experience and a deep understanding of Tanzania’s wildlife and terrain. The itineraries are designed to maximize wildlife sightings and cultural encounters while keeping costs down typically through shorter trip durations and efficient travel routes that don’t compromise on experience.
A glimpse into an exciting day of safari with us
We once had a guide, Lucas, who spotted a leopard hidden in the tall grass with just a flick of its tail visible from over 200 meters away. While other vehicles passed by unaware, he stopped, waited, and whispered to our guests, ‘Just give it five minutes.’ Sure enough, the leopard emerged, walking straight towards a nearby herd of impalas.
Our favourite safari lodges and tented camps
Serengeti National Park – Into Wild Africa Camps
This is hands-down one of our favorite camps. Located in a prime game-viewing area near Seronera, Into Wild Africa offers the perfect balance of comfort, wilderness, and exclusivity. What makes it stand out?
Location: You’re right in the heart of the action, with wildlife often roaming just meters from your tent.
Authentic experience: It’s a classic tented safari setup—with hot bucket showers, campfires under the stars, and no unnecessary luxury to disconnect you from the wild.
Incredible staff: From the warm welcome to personalized service, guests feel genuinely cared for.
Our guests constantly tell us it’s the highlight of their entire trip.
What are your favourite Kilimanjaro routes, campsites, or acclimatization strategies — and why?
Our Favorite Kilimanjaro Route: Marangu Route – “The Coca-Cola Route” While every route up Kilimanjaro offers something unique, the Marangu Route remains one of our top recommendations—especially for first-time climbers or those looking for a slightly more comfortable experience without compromising the challenge or beauty of the mountain.
**Why We Recommend the Marangu Route: **Hut Accommodation Only route with dormitory-style huts, meaning no need for tents. The huts are basic but clean, with beds, mattresses, and dining halls, which makes the experience feel more organized and less physically taxing for some trekkers.
Favorite Campsites on Marangu Route:
Mandara Hut (2,700m) - Nestled in a beautiful forested area with colobus monkeys swinging through the trees.
Our Recommended Acclimatization Strategy for Marangu:
We strongly encourage clients to take the 6-day Marangu itinerary instead of the standard 5-day
Our favourite spots in Tanzania
**Serengeti National Park: **Moru Kopjes, Retima Hippo Pool **Ngorongoro Crater: **Lerai Forest and Crater Rim Viewpoint Tarangire National Park: Silale Swamp and Baobab Hill **Lake Manyara National Park: **Tree-Climbing Lion Territory Arusha National Park: Momella Lakes and Ngurdoto Crater
Real stories about how we support our clients
One of our most memorable moments of support came during a Kilimanjaro climb via the Marangu Route. On day three, just after reaching Horombo Hut, one of our clients Anna, a solo traveler from Germany—began experiencing signs of altitude sickness: headache, nausea, and fatigue beyond normal. Our guide, Emmanuel, immediately recognized the symptoms and activated our safety protocol. Administering mild oxygen (carried by our team) to relieve pressure.
As her condition slightly stabilized, John made a key decision, she should not proceed to Kibo Hut**.** Instead, he sat with her, explained everything gently, and offered two options: descend with a porter or rest an extra night and reassess. She chose to descend. Our office team rearranged her transfers and lodge stay on the same day, so she had a warm bed, food, and comfort waiting.
