A glimpse into an exciting day with us

Meet Goodluck – The Lion Whisperer of Serengeti 🦁 One of our most experienced guides, Goodluck, once calmly navigated a moment that would terrify most. During a sunrise game drive in Serengeti, a pride of lions unexpectedly surrounded the vehicle — not aggressively, but curiously. While guests froze in awe, Goodluck softly whispered, “Don’t move. They’re just curious.” He knew the pride by name, having tracked them for over five years. He even recognized a scar on the lead male he’d seen as a cub. With unmatched calm and deep respect for the animals, he turned a tense moment into the most magical experience our guests had ever had. “It felt like the lions knew him,” one guest later wrote. “It was like watching two worlds speak without words.”

Our favourite spots in Tanzania

What Still Excites Us – Even After Years on Safari At Travel Wise Safari, our guides have been exploring Tanzania's wild spaces for years — yet some places still give us goosebumps, every single time. Here are just a few of the moments we never get tired of sharing with our guests:

Serengeti National Park#

  • Mara River Crossing (North Serengeti): Watching thousands of wildebeest plunge into crocodile-filled waters during the Great Migration never loses its drama. It’s raw, real, and unforgettable.

  • Sunset at Moru Kopjes: These rocky outcrops are home to black rhinos and ancient Maasai rock paintings — but it's the golden hour light hitting the plains that makes your heart pause.

Ngorongoro Crater#

  • Hippo Pool Picnic Site: After a morning of game viewing, sitting by this serene pool surrounded by wildlife feels surreal — hippos snorting, birds singing, lions often watching from a distance.

  • Early morning descent: That first foggy view as you descend into the crater still gives us chills. It’s like stepping into a lost world.

Tarangire National Park#

  • Baobab Valley: Towering baobabs scatter across the landscape like something out of a fantasy novel — and the elephants weaving between them add to the magic.

  • Silale Swamp: A lesser-known gem — lush, green, and full of life, from lion prides to massive elephant herds cooling off in the marsh.

Lake Manyara National Park#

  • Tree-Climbing Lions: Catching a glimpse of this rare behavior is always a thrill — even after years of guiding.

  • Hot Springs (Maji Moto): Not just a geological wonder, but often a quiet corner of the park where baboons, storks, and flamingos gather undisturbed.

Real stories about how we support our clients

When Plans Changed — We Didn’t. Last year, a couple from Germany booked a 5-day safari with us starting from Zanzibar. But on the morning of their flight to Arusha, their flight was suddenly cancelled due to bad weather. Panic set in — they thought they’d miss their entire safari. Our team immediately stepped in. While they were still at the airport, Angela from our reservations team rebooked their flight for the next available slot. Meanwhile, Hope, one of our top coordinators in Arusha, reorganized the entire safari schedule in real time — adjusting game drive timings, rescheduling accommodation check-ins, and even surprising the guests with a complimentary bush dinner to ease the stress of the delay. The couple made it to Arusha just hours later than planned — and didn’t miss a single park on their itinerary. Their review? “We’ve never felt so taken care of. Travel Wise didn’t just sell us a safari — they had our back every step of the way.”

A glimpse into an exciting day of safari with us

One morning in Tarangire, our guide Emmanuel spotted two male lions long before anyone else — even though they were completely hidden in tall grass. Most vehicles drove past without noticing anything unusual. But Emmanuel stopped the jeep, smiled, and told our guests: ‘Watch this spot carefully… something is about to happen.’ Within seconds, a massive lion lifted its head, followed by another. They were stalking a group of unsuspecting impalas. Because Emmanuel understood their body language, the wind direction, and the hunting patterns of that pride, he positioned our vehicle perfectly — at a safe distance, with the best viewing angle, and without disturbing the animals. For the next 20 minutes, our guests witnessed a rare, silent, perfectly coordinated hunt from beginning to end. They later told us it felt like watching a National Geographic documentary — but live, right in front of them. That moment showed them what makes a great guide: the ability to read nature before it happens.

What are your favourite Kilimanjaro routes, campsites, or acclimatization strategies — and why?

Our Favourite Kilimanjaro Routes & Why#

1. Machame Route (7 Days) Our top choice for most climbers. It has the best acclimatization profile, beautiful scenery, and a steady pace that gives clients a high chance of reaching the summit. 2. Lemosho Route (8 Days) Perfect for those who want a quieter, more remote start. It offers wide-open landscapes, fewer crowds, and the smoothest altitude adjustment. 3. Marangu Route (5–6 Days) Great for beginners or those who prefer sleeping in mountain huts instead of tents. It’s the most comfortable option, especially during rainy months.

Best Campsites & Why We Recommend Them#

• Shira Camp – One of the most stunning views on Kilimanjaro; clients love the sunset and wide plains. • Barranco Camp – Dramatic scenery near the famous Barranco Wall; unforgettable sunrise moments. • Barafu Camp – Ideal location for summit night, giving climbers the best timing for Uhuru Peak.

Our Acclimatization Approach#

We follow a simple, proven strategy: “Walk high, sleep low.” This helps the body adjust gradually and makes clients feel stronger each day. We also include slow pace hiking (pole pole) and extra rest time at high-altitude spots like Shira Plateau.

What moments or parts of the mountain do you still find magical — even after climbing hundreds of times?

The Magical Moments We Never Get Used To#

1. Sunrise at Stella Point No matter how many times we climb, watching the sun rise above the clouds at Stella Point feels like the mountain is opening its heart. The sky turns gold, the air is silent, and every climber suddenly believes, “I can make it.” 2. First-Time Trekkers Seeing the Glaciers Even after guiding hundreds of climbers, the moment someone sees the ancient glaciers for the first time is unforgettable. Their eyes widen, they stop walking, and you can feel how powerful and emotional that moment is. 3. The Barranco Wall Climbers arrive nervous… but they leave the top smiling. The mix of challenge, teamwork, and the sweeping view across the valley makes this one of Kilimanjaro’s most magical places — every single time.

We were impressed with how straightforward and honest Donald was during the planning. He gave us realistic expectations about weather, animal sightings, and travel times, which helped a lot. The safari Jeep was modern, clean, and even had WiFi. We stayed at Ngorongoro Wild Camp, which had stunning scenery during sunrise. A great Safari!

Travel Wise Safari did an outstanding job organizing our 4-day, 3-night safari through the Ngorongoro Crater, the Conservation Area, and the Serengeti. Our guide, Bruno, was fantastic he went above and beyond to fulfill our every wish. He shared insightful information throughout the journey and made a genuine effort to ensure everyone was happy and comfortable within this Safari. We had an unforgettable experience, and for better and unforgettable experience in Tanzania I can highly recommend Travel Wise to anyone planning a safari in Tanzania.

Geat Short of Safari

We spent two days on a short but memorable safari through Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Everything was exceptionally well-organized flights, transfers, itinerary, meals, and accommodation were all clearly communicated and smoothly arranged. During the safari, we were fortunate to see a wide variety of animals, often from very close up. Tarangire is fantastic for spotting giraffes and elephants, while Ngorongoro Crater offers great sightings of buffalo, various bird species, a few rhinos (usually at a distance), and even lions. Unfortunately, we didn’t spot any leopards another day or a bit more luck might have changed that! Our lodge was cozy and comfortable, and the food was excellent. We were glad we brought light jackets, as the evenings do get a bit chilly. Our guide was very friendly and flexible, happily accommodating personal requests such as a quick visit to the Tanzanite Museum, which we appreciated. Overall, it was a wonderful experience that we would happily recommend to others.

Wonderful Safari Days

We went on a 2-day safari through Tarangire National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater—and it was nothing short of a dream. The entire experience was flawlessly organized by Travel Wise Safaris. Communication with Goodluck was smooth and responsive; he answered all our questions thoroughly and without delay. Our guide, David, was exceptional. He shared a wealth of knowledge about Tanzania, the wildlife, the national parks, and the Maasai culture, turning the safari into an unforgettable adventure. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw all the iconic animals, and the sights we experienced were truly breathtaking. A heartfelt thank you once again for making this trip so special. In short—we’ll absolutely book with Travel Wise Safaris again when we return!

dream safari

Our 3-day safari with Travel Wise was flawless from start to finish! Every step from planning to payment to support was handled perfectly. Our driver, David, was wonderful and made us feel completely safe throughout the trip. We loved Heart and Soul Lodge (our first accommodation), though we would suggest reconsidering Tulia Boutique Hotel in Arusha (I will share more details separately). The parks Tarangire, Ngorongoro, and Arusha NP, were each uniquely beautiful. The food during our safari was excellent too, always hot, delicious, with cold beers (and wine available too!). Highlights included visiting a Maasai village and a 2-hour guided hike in Arusha NP. When our return flight from Arusha to Zanzibar was cancelled and so we had to bridge a few hours, which our driver solved brilliantly. Luckily, we were able to fly from Kilimanjaro at night. A special thank you to the team for how kindly they treated my 80-year-old mother-in-law; everyone adored her as their ‘bibi’ (grandma)! This safari created wonderful memories for our whole family.

Safari Dream

Majestic Safari in Tanzania! We did a 3-day safari with Travel Wise, and I have to say—everything went smoothly from start to finish. From the initial briefing to the payment process and ongoing support, everything was exceptionally well organized. Our driver, David, was incredibly friendly and an exceptionally safe driver. We felt 100% secure with him the entire time. The first accommodation, Heart and Soul Lodge, was lovely—clean, comfortable, and welcoming. However, the second one in Arusha (Tulia Boutique Hotel) didn’t quite meet the same standard. I’ll be writing a separate review for that. We explored Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and Arusha National Park. Each had its own unique charm and stunning landscapes—we thoroughly enjoyed all three. The meals during the safari were another highlight. The food was consistently warm, tasty, and well-prepared, and the beer was always cold. A glass of wine would have been a nice addition, though! We also visited a Maasai village and did a scenic 2-hour guided hike in Arusha National Park with a knowledgeable ranger. Unfortunately, our return flight from Arusha to Zanzibar was cancelled, which left us with a few hours to fill. Thankfully, our driver handled the situation calmly and efficiently. We were fortunate to catch a later flight from Kilimanjaro that evening. We traveled with my 80-year-old mother-in-law, and I must say, the care and attention everyone showed her was heartwarming. She quickly became “Bibi” (grandma) to everyone we met.

Absolutely worth it !

I rarely write reviews, but this safari was so special I had to share! Every detail was perfectly planned, and it felt completely seamless from start to finish. We came hoping to see male lions and Kilimanjaro, but even without spotting them, the experience was worth far more. Our guides Don, Calvin, and Kinisa, turned this into something magical. Their friendship, knowledge, and humour made it unforgettable. Don was outstanding! His passion for nature was inspiring, and he always found the best wildlife viewing spots. Calvin captured breathtaking photos of us and the landscapes, memories we will cherish forever. Kinisa, our driver, showed incredible patience, explaining everything clearly and ensuring smooth, perfectly timed game drives. Though wildlife sightings aren’t guaranteed, the bond we formed with these amazing guides and the laughs we shared were more rewarding than we ever imagined. As someone who notices every detail, I can recommend this team enough. If you book, ask for Don as your guide, Calvin for photos, and Kinisa to drive; they truly deserve 5 stars!
