How it works
No middleman. Just the right local experts.
A safari isn’t a cheap weekend away — most trips run well over $2,000 a person, and many are double that. That’s a lot of money to hand to a company you’ve never met, in a country you’ve never been. Here’s exactly how we help you find one you can trust — and how we make our money, so you can see there’s no catch.
What “no middleman” actually means
Hundreds of safari companies operate in Kenya and Tanzania. They’re called tour operators— the local people who actually plan and run your safari on the ground. The hard part isn’t finding one; it’s knowing which one is genuinely good at the specific trip you want.
The usual way to solve that is to book through a travel agent or an overseas website — a middleman who sits inside your booking, marks up the price, and keeps the relationship. You pay more, and you never really deal with the people running your trip.
We work the other way around. We’re not an agent and we don’t resell trips. We simply point you to the right local operators — free — and then get out of the way. You talk to them, book with them, and pay them directly, at their price, with nothing added. We never sit between you and your trip, and we never touch your money. That’s the “no middleman” part, and we mean it literally.

How we make money
We’re free for travellers. You’ll never pay NoMiddleManTours a penny, and we never add a markup to the price an operator quotes you.
We make our money from the operators. When we match your trip to a local operator, that operator pays a small fee to receive it. Crucially, they only pay for requests they choose to take on — and a good operator won’t take a trip they aren’t set up to run well.
That one fact keeps everything honest. An operator who’s brilliant at fly-in Serengeti camps will turn down a Kilimanjaro climb that isn’t their strength — so it’s pointless for us to send mismatched requests. We only earn when the match is genuinely right, because that’s the only time you actually book. Our business and your good trip are the same thing.
What we never do
We never add a markup. The price you agree is between you and the operator.
Operators can't buy their way up. No one can pay to be shown first or recommended ahead of a company that's a better fit for your trip.
We never sell your details. Your request only ever goes to the handful of operators we match you with — no one else.
We never fake a “fixed” price. Safaris are tailored to you, so your final price is confirmed with the operator. What we show you is a real starting price to compare, never a bait number.
About the prices you see
Many of our trips show a real “from” price per person, built from genuine operator and lodge rates — so you can compare honestly beforeyou ever make contact. Because every safari is tailored to your dates, group and choices, your final price is confirmed directly with the operator. We don’t add anything on top.
Frequently asked
- Is it really free?
- Yes. Travellers never pay NoMiddleManTours anything, and we never add a markup to the operator's price.
- So how do you make money?
- Local operators pay a small fee to receive trip requests they choose to take on. That's our only income — there's no cost to you, ever.
- Can an operator pay to be shown first or recommended over others?
- No. Operators can't buy ranking or placement. Who you hear from is decided by how well they fit the trip you want, not by how much they spend.
- How many operators will contact me?
- Usually two or three — the ones genuinely suited to your trip. Enough to compare properly, not so many that you're buried in calls.
- Will I get spammed?
- No. Your request goes only to the operators we match you with. We don't sell or share your details with anyone else.
- Are the prices on the site final?
- They're real per-person starting prices so you can compare. Because safaris are tailored to you, your final price is confirmed with the operator — and we never add a markup.
- Who are the operators?
- Local Kenyan and Tanzanian companies that we've vetted and verified before they can receive any requests.
