** Background**
Jackson Thomas Lyimo was born in Moshi, Tanzania, into a pioneering tourism family. His father, the late Thomas Emmanuel Lyimo, founded Transkibo Travels, one of the earliest tourism companies in the region—an influence that shaped Jackson’s career path.
He pursued his education across East Africa, attending institutions in Kenya and later earning a degree in business from Makerere University Business School in Uganda. After graduation, Jackson returned to Moshi and launched MJ Safaris in 2012, a Tanzanian-owned safari and trekking company.
In 2015, he co-founded Trekking Hero with international partners David and Pablo, combining their global marketing reach with his expertise in organizing operations on the ground. His deep knowledge of the Kilimanjaro region, paired with trusted logistics, made Trekking Hero a top choice for international climbers.
In 2024, Jackson expanded into hospitality by opening The Maridadi Boutique Hotel, a stylish property in Moshi designed to give visitors comfort, class, and an ideal base before or after safari and mountain adventures.
Today, Jackson is widely respected in Tanzania’s tourism industry as a ground operator, business leader, and promoter of high-quality, locally-driven travel experiences.
