End of trip
We'll pick you up from your Arusha hotel, and after a 2-3 hour drive, you'll reach Tarangire National Park.
This region was once a favorite for Hemingway's big game hunting safaris. In 1970, following the establishment of national parks, the seasonal marshes and expansive savannahs were transformed into profitable hunting grounds.
Fortunately, today's visitors use cameras instead of elephant guns. Tarangire National Park boasts the highest elephant density in North Tanzania, allowing year-round observation of herds that can reach up to an impressive 300 animals.
The Tarangire River flows consistently throughout the year, drawing numerous animals from the surrounding areas during the dry season (July to October) for drinking. If you visit during this period, you'll witness a remarkable natural spectacle, observing lions, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, various antelopes, gazelles, and perhaps even a python. The dry season also makes this area a haven for bird watchers, offering sightings of over 550 different species, including the Masai Ostrich, the world's largest bird.
Around lunchtime, we'll pause at a suitable picnic spot, and the afternoon will be dedicated to more wildlife watching. Before sunset, we'll return you to your Arusha hotel.
