Western Serengeti
Full day game drives at West Serengeti.
After breakfast enjoy a full day game drive in the Serengeti Western Corridor.
The key features in the Western Corridor are the Grumeti and Mbalageti rivers, running almost parallel to each other. Each supports a band of evergreen forest.
The rivers sustain a permanent population of zebra, wildebeest, all the predators and birdlife. It is also possible to find large pods of hippos and huge crocodiles in the Grumeti River.
The wildebeest normally gather around waterholes mid-morning in such densities, that they look like ants swarming around a nest.

From end of April up to the end of June, a vast army of wildebeests along with zebras, elands and gazelles mill around the Western Corridor of the Serengeti, south of the Grumeti River.
Harassed by lions, cheetahs, leopards and hyenas behind, and ahead by giant Nile crocodiles lurking in the Grumeti and Mbalageti river waters, many hundreds perish as some dare the river crossing.

Hundreds of thousands of desperate wildebeest gather together on the banks of the river, gazing wistfully across the turbulent water at the green grass on the other side, but no animal will make a move.
All it takes is one brave wildebeest to take the 'literal' plunge, and then, all follow!
