Lake Manyara Tortilis Camp is a tented mid-range property located near the entrance to Lake Manyara National Park. Rooms typically cost around $360–400 per night in high season, with low-season reductions bringing rates closer to $215–240 (Mar–May). This camp is designed to give guests a more immersive, “under canvas” safari feel than Karatu lodges, while still offering comfort.

From a safari logistics perspective, Tortilis is excellent for guests dedicating a full day to Lake Manyara, as the camp is right at the park’s doorstep. That means you can be on game drives shortly after breakfast, without the transit time that comes from staying in Karatu. However, for crater safaris, you’ll still need to drive ~60 minutes to the Ngorongoro gate, which makes it less efficient than Karatu bases or crater-rim lodges.

Compared with Mawe Mawe Manyara Lodge (stylish lodge on the escarpment), Marera Valley Lodge (Karatu rustic-chic), and Karatu Simba Lodge (eco-styled chalets), Tortilis stands out for offering a true tented-camp experience at a price point lower than luxury camps inside the parks.
